Description
almost like organic music straight from the ground.
Maria Geraghty Everything has to be just right
The temperature
The timing
The feeling
She was green with envy
And ran out into the field in a frenzy
The sky above the sleeping turquoise hills
Seemed to Beat cerise
The dancing grasses, strips of avocado
From out of an earth of pea soup staccato
With her hair on fire
And her heart aflame
She took up her guitar
Her emotions to tame
But the conditions she was under
When everything came together
Had the pluck of the strings
Cause wonderful things to weather
For the strings strung the tune of her being
And the scorn vibrated from finger to plectrum
And the wood began to ripen
And sprout new green shoots mishapen
And her thwarted love, aghast
morphed the fretboard to asparagus
An oestrogenic vegetable
Green, yellow, lilac and red
And the budding guitarist
Played a budding guitar
And as all music does
It swoon-soothed her heart.
